Promote entrepreneurship and improve the development of companies in the Vega Baja region, mainly in the Agri-food and Agro-environmental sectors. With this objective, the Scientific Park of the Miguel Hernández University (PCUMH) of Elche and the Chamber of Commerce of Orihuela have presented today, June 7, the Orihuela Emprende program. This initiative, aimed at entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in the town and region, offers specialized training, expert advice, networking actions and 2,400 euros in prizes for the best proposals. Those interested in participating in this free program can register and reserve one of the limited places through the web www.emprendeumh.es/orihuela.
With this initiative the Scientific Park of the UMH and the Chamber of Commerce of Orihuela seek to generate new jobs, promote business diversification and improve the socioeconomic welfare of the municipality and the region of Vega Baja. The program has two categories, “Entrepreneurs” and “Companies”, aimed at promoting new projects and the development of already consolidated businesses, respectively. Entrepreneurial initiatives and companies of any sector will be able to participate, although mainly they are looking for projects that innovate in the Agri-food and Agro-environmental area.
Program dynamics
Orihuela Emprende offers training in different areas such as business and strategy models, marketing and sales, social networks and online marketing, finance and legal and tax aspects. Likewise, the entrepreneurs and companies in Orihuela and the region will receive advice, support and personalized follow-up from the program’s technical experts and experts from the UMH Scientific Park. In addition, those registered will have access to the different networking actions that will be carried out in this program. All this in order to detect the improvement areas of each project and determine specific actions to boost their competitiveness.
Likewise, Orihuela Emprende will distribute a total of 2,400 euros among the best proposals. In the Entrepreneurs category, 600 euros will be awarded to the best project and 600 euros to the best project in the agri-food or agro-environmental sector, while in the Companies category, 600 euros will be awarded to the best company and another 600 euros to the best company in the agricultural sector.
Orihuela Emprende is part of Emprende UMH, an initiative of the Miguel Hernández University, managed by its Science Park, which seeks to help the municipalities and public institutions of the province in their commitment to entrepreneurship and business growth.
The event was attended by the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Orihuela, Mario Antonio Martínez, the vice president of this body, Pedro Mancebo, and the UMH professor and member of the Advisory Board of this Chamber, David Bernardo López-Lluch. On the part of the Scientific Park of the UMH, the director of his Entrepreneurship Area, Javier Sancho, the coordinator of the Emprende UMH program, Pedro Almendros, and the director of Business Financing and Development, Sergio Román, were present.
