Orihuela Chamber considers the abolition of the AP-7 toll in La Zenia and Los Montesinos “priority”. A performance that President Cameral, Mario Martínez, describes as “absolutely necessary for Orihuela and Vega Baja, especially for our coastal companies that are directly affected.” Therefore, the head of the institution has shown his support for the initiative of the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón. The councilor has proposed to bring together the mayors of the region to work together for the implementation of at least one soft toll for residents in the ten kilometer section where the current payment points are located. As well as to talk about the necessary improvement of the connections between the interior and the coast of the region.
Martínez has gone further and assured that at that meeting “Orihuela Chamber must also be present, as well as all the business associations of Vega Baja, Asemvega, Jovega, OC Avanza, etc.” And he added that “we all work in the same sense and that joint work is necessary that we hope will allow to hear the voice of the whole region in Alicante, in Valencia and in Madrid ”.
At the same time, the Orihuela Chamber plans to request a meeting with the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi Spain, “which we would like to see in September Orihuela and check the state of our infrastructure.”
Orihuela Chamber has claimed for years the abolition of the AP-7 tolls. He did so in 2013 when the City Council approved, with the support of all political groups including the PP, a CLR motion in this regard, as well as contributed in 2014 to the collection of signatures that OC Avanza promoted on the coast Oriolano and that achieved 7,000 support from residents in the area. This same year and with the presentation of allegations to the Uneix Plan of the Generalitat presented by Orihuela Chamber and endorsed by the business groups that participated in its drafting, the total suppression of these tolls was also raised to favor the commercial and business development of the area .
