Cámara Orihuela proposes creating a Metropolitan Area in the Vega Baja to optimize services and have more voice in Valencia

The Chamber of Commerce of Orihuela has resumed its activity with force after a brief summer break that has allowed to start up different projects that have been working for months. The president of the institution, Mario Martínez Murcia, accompanied by the first vice president, Pedro Mancebo, and José Antonio Barberá, member of the Executive Committee, has raised the need for municipalities and politicians to join together to create a Metropolitan Area in the Vega Baja. can optimize services and reduce costs, “in addition to unite to have more voice in Valencia, because the funding problem that currently has the Valencian Community with respect to Madrid is, in our case, the same as the one that has the Vega Baja with Valencia. ”

Martinez said that this idea emerged on Wednesday during the signing of the framework agreement with the City of Almoradí, an agreement that is expected to extend in the coming weeks to the municipalities of Redován and Rafal and that at the end of the year is intended to have signed with half of the towns of the Vega Baja. This dynamic is possible under the agreement signed in May by the Chamber of Commerce of Orihuela and Alicante, which allows the Oriolan institution to develop commercial projects in nearby municipalities; This being one of the projects to be promoted in this last four-month period of the year.

“This will allow us to start up a sales department through which we want to standardize the commercial activity in our region with the own projects of Cámara Orihuela and with those of Pateco at the regional level, which in the case of the years 2015 and 2016 never came to the Vega Baja because they did not have an agent to advertise them, “said Martínez. For this reason, a commercial area is created from Cámara Orihuela that will also attend to the needs of each locality, being able to count on specialists from all over the national territory through the Cámara España that can be at the service of the town councils. As an example, Martínez Murcia has indicated that “if a municipality, as is the case of Almoradí, wants a study of its industrial estate, it can be requested from the specialists who have the Chambers of Asturias and provide this service through from them”.
