The Regional Round Table promoted by Cámara Orihuela and Asemvega, and in which TM group, Provía, Ineca, Privative Water Court and Fercoreva are integrated, has held today a new meeting in which the presence of the General Director of Territorial Planning, Urban Planning and Landscape, Rosa Pardo, and the regional secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Public Works and Vertebration of the Territory, José Luis Ferrando. Both have come to Orihuela to listen to the needs that this organ raises that must “not only be taken into account, but included directly, in the future Territorial Action Plan of the Vega Baja”, said the president of the cameral entity, Mario Martínez .

The claims that reach the Territorial Action Plan by the Vega Baja are summarized in three areas: Infrastructure, Agriculture and Water and Tourism. In the case of infrastructures, “our claims are already known, the execution of the Logistics Activities Zone; that the duplication of the N-332 in Torrevieja be completed; the duplication of CVs 91 and 95; the rail connection of the Vega Baja coastline from Alicante and the airport and the replacement, by a shadow toll, of the toll of the AP-7 in the section from Los Montesinos to La Zenia “, he specified.

With regard to water and agriculture, definitive solutions are demanded for the most important economic sector of the region, because “our farmers can not plan crops without knowing without water or not and at what price”, assured the president of Cámara Orihuela . This happens, for example, to guarantee the transfers of the Tagus, the concessional rights of traditional irrigation by the CHS or to develop a plan for the modernization of irrigation to improve drainage networks by increasing returns to the system “and therefore , the reuse of a good so precious in our land as is water “.

On the other hand, it is also committed from this Regional Committee for the creation of a quality mark of the products of the Vega Baja that will provide them with value and distinguish them from those of other places, among other proposals such as making possible the technological improvement starting from the base that rural areas should be equipped with more mobile data coverage to be able to carry them out.

In terms of tourism, the table focuses on a sector that has been paramount in recent decades, such as residential tourism, and the limitations and paralisations with which it is currently for urbanistic reasons. In view of this, it is proposed that residential tourism be recognized as a unique and unique asset in the Vega Baja and that the figure of Residential Tourist Municipality be implemented. In this way and focusing on the second coast line, we intend to enable growth under the model of intelligent territories, “harmonizing the territory in new growths and combining with our real tourist assets that are our climate, our garden, the environmental heritage and landscaping or our history. ”

The members of the table explained to the general manager that future growth should be “at the forefront in terms of new models of urban sustainability” and that they should also be combined with the promotion of new innovative economic activities of tourism activity and services.

La Vega Baja, a priority territory

Both the regional secretary and the general director have stressed that these conversations are being held before implementing the Territorial Action Plan “because what we want is to plan a reasonable and diversified development, and for this we need to prepare the territory,” he said.
